Braking

If the car's speed is less than \ensuremath {v_\mathrm {max}} it should be either accelerating as much as possible to try to reach \ensuremath {v_\mathrm {max}} or braking to avoid exceeding \ensuremath {v_\mathrm {max}} up the road. To find out what situation we're in, we need to know the car's speed as a function of distance under braking.
